This spring H2DANCE would like to welcome you to our first edition of Fest en Fest – LAB a collaboration with Martin Hargreaves, London Contemporary Dance School and Cambridge Junction. Fest en Fest – LAB is a new strand to Fest en Fest, aiming to dig deeper into expanded choreographic practices and to think alongside other artists in the field.

Fest en Fest – LAB presents and thinks with the artists Björn Säfsten, Emilyn Claid, Ingri Fiksdal, Kate Marsh, Malik Nashad Sharpe, Martin Hargreaves, SERAFINE1369, Sonya Lindfors og Stina Nyberg. Each artist shares their choreographic approaches and methodologies through a variety of formats such as interviews, lectures, scores, books and conversations. Each artist paired with another and invited to discuss a topic of their concern, to get to know each other and to think together about how to broaden the potential of the choreographic.

2018 H2DANCE initiated Fest en Fest to create a dedicated space for expanded choreography in the UK. Fest en Fest introduces the work of Nordic and UK based artists; a space for artists and audiences to come together, present live and digital works and ideas, to discuss, provoke, influence and be a force for change.

The first festival took place in Deptford London 2018, followed by a more extended edition in 2020 in Deptford London, Colchester and Cambridge.

Fest en Fest – LAB is funded by Arts Council England, Royal Norwegian Embassy, Embassy of Sweden, London Contemporary Dance School, Roehampton University and Cambridge Junction.

Fest en Fest –LAB and H2DANCE invite Björn Säfsten SE, Stina Nyberg SE, Ingri Fiksdal NO, Sonya Lindfors FI, SERAFINE1369 UK, Malik Nashad Sharpe UK, Kate Marsh UK, Emilyn Claid UK to share their choreographic approaches and methodologies through a variety of formats such as interviews, lectures, scores, books and conversations with the public. Each artist is paired with another and invited to discuss a topic that concerns them and to think together about how to broaden the potential of the choreographic.

Fest en Fest – LAB is, in addition, creating a LAB partnering with Cambridge Junction. This space invites artists to come together to play and experiment without any agenda or pressure to present.

Fest en Fest – LAB seeks to open up for and sharing of new choreographic knowledges, structures, tools and strategies.
