Malik’s choreographic practice focuses primarily on the production of movement at the intersection of affect, style, tone, and dramaturgy. They work with dance materials and textures that pair formal canonical techniques with dances that proliferate across the internet, live action, and the quotidian. They operate with the belief that choreography presents us with critical space for social and emotional reflection.

Malik Nashad Sharpe
Malik Nashad Sharpe is an artist working with choreography. They create performances that are formally experimental and engaged with the construction of atmosphere, affect, and dramaturgy. Their performances often utilise social themes and topics as portals to unveil and unearth ulterior and the undercurrent perspectives. Often making underneath their alias and aesthetics project marikiscrycrycry, they have been especially concerned with the affective and textural qualities of dance and how it can transform, disarm, and critically reflect upon mourning and melancholia.
Their works have been presented internationally and across many different contexts including: Fierce Festival (UK), American Realness (USA), Submerge Festival at BAC (USA), Block Universe x EWerk Luckenwalde (DE), Impulstanz at Schauspielhauals (AT), BUZZCUT at CCA Glasgow (UK), NOW Festival at The Yard Theatre (UK), at Montreal arts et interculturels (CA), Theatre La Chapelle (CA), Menagerie de Verre (FR), The Place (UK), Panoply Performance Lab (USA), Steakhouse Live at Rich Mix (UK), Queer and Now at Tate Britain (UK), Tramway (UK), NottDance at Nottingham Contemporary (UK), Beursschouwburg (BE), Les Urbaines Lausanne (CH), Duckie (UK), Marlborough Pub and Theatre (UK), Theatre in the Mill (UK), Transmission Gallery (UK), Quarterhouse Folkestone (UK), Toronto Community Love-In at Pia Bouman Theatre (CA), Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts (UK), Cambridge Junction (UK), London Fashion Week (UK).
