Remembering without Cement

Loren will talk and invite conversation around remembering pulling in ideas around archiving, bodies in relation to archives, tactility, grief and building monuments or memorials. Formed with queer and disabled people and histories at the front of their mind Loren will question how we remember otherwise.

Tumbling into this conversation is the cairn (càrn). A heap of rocks, usually gathered from elsewhere. A place to be, reflect, remember and way-find from.

Tickets include a meal. All food will be vegan. If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, please let us know here: michaelkitchinproducer@gmail.com

ARTISTS

Loren is an artist and researcher based in South East London. Their practice moves between words, material, movement and conversation. Their work is sometimes performance, sometimes education, sometimes access support and sometimes local organising.

As a researcher Loren is interested in archives or the archiving of queer and disabled peoples stories, experiences, practices… asking how do we write our own histories, remember each other, and leave traces. Loren is currently at the Centre for Dance Research (Coventry University) researching representations of queer and disabled artists in dance archives.

Loren is a commissioned artist for METAL creating and working alongside an artist’s congress as part of In Other Words. Their research for this commission has strayed from remembering toward grief, nature and time.
