In this performance project, Ming and Hanna Gillgren delve into the convergence of their practices.  Creating movement using voice as a starting point, they make sounds and songs out of torn-apart languages, distilling, expanding, chopping, rapping, layering, cannoning, sequencing, repeating, and phasing language and sounds.

Hanna Gillgren/ H2DANCE

Hanna Gillgren (UK/SE) is a choreographer, performer, curator, facilitator and lecturer working between UK, Sweden and Norway. Her work explores the relationship between voice, movement, language and collaborative practice. She is fascinated by meetings of differences, coming together with peers from all walks of life to disseminate what choreography can be; how it can simultaneously be a vehicle for social change, art, curation, and politics.

Her practice spans movement, writing, hosting, curating, drawing, and film.

Hanna has co-directed H2DANCE together with Heidi Rustgard since 2000 and in 2018, they co-founded Fest en Fest, an international festival for expanded choreography that presents UK and Nordic artists working across dance, performance, written and visual arts.

Awards include The Place Prize audience vote in 2013 with the work DUET and IMZ Dance on Screen Award with the film GOLD a collaboration with director Rachel Davies.

Hanna is also a part-time senior lecturer in choreography and dance practice at Roehampton University in London. Hanna will be part of the first cohort of Rose Choreographic School at Sadler’s Wells 2024-26.
